There are many different styles of wedding album available, at prices ranging from under £20 to well over £1000. What you choose is very much a matter of personal taste and budget. For these reasons we don't include an album in the packages, so we keep our prices low and give you complete freedom of choice.

Instead we can provide albums from a range of suppliers at cost price - we don't add any mark-up if you commission us to build the album for you. For our labour we charge a fee of around £50, depending on the size, complexity and number of photographs. This is a heavily discounted price, as it usually takes about a day's work to design the layout and build the album to our high standards.

Couples sometimes receive an album as a wedding present. We are happy to mount your selected photographs in your album for the same fee.

Alternatively, if you want to do it all yourself we'll provide free advice - it's not rocket science, but it does take time, attention to detail and a methodical approach. We're happy to explain all.

Styles of Wedding Album

The vast range of choices can be a bit confusing, but don't worry - we can explain the options and help you to quickly find the album that's right for you. The section below gives a brief description of the most popular styles of album, and provides links to some of the album suppliers websites.

Paste-on

With paste-on albums you glue the photographs directly on to the page. They usually come with tissue interleaves between each page to prevent the faces of the photographs sticking together.

They can be quite stylish and relatively inexpensive (from around £25). If the pages are large enough you can create an interesting album by including some pages containing several smaller photgraphs, and other pages displaying a single large image. Paste-on albums are normally book-bound, i.e. they contain a fixed number of pages, so you've got to carefully select the correct number of photographs. Also (if you're doing it yourself) be very careful not to stick a photo in a bit squiffy, or in the wrong sequence, otherwise you've wrecked the book and you have to re-start with a new album and photos. We can do it for you, or give you some advice to help you avoid disasters. Paste-on, book-bound wedding albums are available reasonably cheaply from many high-street outlets, such as WH Smith and Debenhams, and are also available from specialist wedding album suppliers, for example Middlewall, Spicer-Hallfield, and D.Wright, although there are many more suppliers.

Post Bound

These are often considered the "traditional" wedding album, although many contemporary designs are available. The pages are purchased separately from the cover, and are held in place by hidden metal posts. This means that you can vary the number of pages to suit the number of photographs that you want to include.

The photographs can be glued directly on to the pages, but more usually a decorative overlay (like a mount on a framed photo) is fixed over it. Prices start at about £100 for the cover, pages and overlays.

Post bound albums tend to be available only from the specialist manufacturers such as Middlewall, Spicer-Hallfield, and D.Wright.

Wedding Book

These are where the photographs are printed directly on to the pages of a bound book. Usually the cover of the book can also carry an image from the wedding. A few years ago these were very expensive, costing over £1,000 but recent developments in automated digital book publishing systems have meant that it is now possible to produce single editions of high-quality photo books at competitive prices.
